Motivation starts with thoughts. Thoughts motivate a person to act.
There is an abundance of motivational type material in circulation and it reaches into just about any aspect of life one can imagine. There are motivators for business, weight loss, homework, religious, prosperity and many more. There are even life coaches. The material or speaker cannot make a person change.
Let's look at the weight loss programs. The diet of one's choosing does not matter in the least. It is the motivation behind it. No book, no pills, no magical combination of carbs and proteins, no exercise machine, nothing will make a person lose weight and keep it off. If the person is motivated, FROM WITHIN, they will lose weight . Guaranteed.
Ralph Waldo Emerson eloquently states,"A man is what he thinks about all day long."
Marcus Aurelius said, "A man's life is what his thoughts make it."
Whether it's Joel Osteen's "Thinking the Right Thoughts", Lynn Grabhorn's "Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting", Marianne Williamson's "Being in Light" (all my personal favorites),or any other motivational speaker/material, the motivation to make the change successful and lasting has to come from within oneself.
